Just like we keep our homes clean, it is our responsibility to keep our surroundings clean as well.
So, Aashray, a non-profit organization conducted a Plogging Drive on Sunday, 26th September. The drive was held in sectors 20 and 21, Panchkula. It was a collaborative effort of the NGO and ScrapBook.
ScrapBuk is a unique application that allows you to collect waste from your home. The motive behind the drive was to clean the surroundings and to raise awareness about the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
The volunteers also interacted with the different business owners in these sectors about the importance of segregating waste. The drive amplified the adverse effects of plastic on the environment and aimed at making the Tricity plastic-free.
The fight against global climate change can be won only through collective effort. Small efforts by small groups of people can make a huge difference and needless to say, the work done by Aashray and many such organizations is a positive and hopeful step towards igniting change.
