In the Blink of a Droplet: Sharanya Jain’s Mesmerizing Photography

In the heart of Chandigarh, a 17-year-old prodigy is making waves in the world of photography. Sharanya Jain, a 12th grade student at Carmel Convent School, is not your typical teenager. Her passion for photography has been a lifelong journey, nurtured by her father, a renowned wildlife photographer, who passed on his love for the art to Sharanya when she was just twelve.

What sets Sharanya apart is her unique approach to photography, and her work has garnered international recognition. Her captivating images have graced the pages of some of the most widely circulated newspapers worldwide, including The Times (UK), Daily Star Sunday (UK), and index.hu, one of Hungary’s most visited websites. Best selling magazines like Smart Photography and JPC Magazine have also been captivated by her artistry.

Frozen in Time

Sharanya’s true fascination lies in the miniature world of water droplet photography, a realm where she excels in capturing the ephemeral beauty that unfolds when water strikes water. Each moment presents a fresh canvas, resulting in exquisite formations that are nothing short of mesmerizing.

In her own words, Sharanya shares, “Droplet photography is a unique and intricate form of photography, capturing the split second in which water strikes against water to create exquisite formations every single time. The rest is up to interpretation: whether you see mushrooms or umbrellas, or dancing ladies all depends on your imagination.”

Water droplet photography, often classified as macro photography, is an art form that requires precision, patience, and a keen eye. When water collides with water, droplets ascend into the air, creating a distinct and intricate formation with every interaction. The challenge lies in capturing this split-second moment that the human eye cannot perceive without specialized equipment.

Through the Lens of Splendor

Sharanya’s setup is as meticulous as her artistry. It includes a camera set to bulb mode, a macro lens, a flash, a dropping kit, and an abundance of patience. To create the perfect image, she operates in a dark room and freezes the moment with a flashlight.

For her craft, Sharanya relies on a Nikon D750 camera equipped with a 105mm macro lens. This combination allows her to delve into the mesmerizing world of water droplets and capture the intricate dance of liquid as it gracefully takes form in mid-air.

In the world of photography, Sharanya Jain is a young visionary who is pushing the boundaries and capturing the unseen wonders of the universe. Her passion for water droplet photography is a testament to her artistic dedication, and her work resonates with the beauty that can be found in the simplest and most fleeting of moments. As she continues to evolve as an artist, there’s no doubt that her captivating imagery will leave an indelible mark on the world of photography!
