Spreading Compassion

Independence Day is around the corner, and the entire nation is gearing up for a grand celebration, including Robin Hood’s Army (RHA). RHA has undertaken #MissionSWADES with the objective of serving 10 million meals in 1000 villages across the country to celebrate India’s 76th Independence Day. Notably, celebrities like actors Anu Kapoor, Sunil Grover, and Femina Miss India – UT 2023 Navya Naveen Kalra have already voiced their support for #MissionSWADES. Over the span of 9 years, RHA has been featured in esteemed publications such as The Tribune, The Telegram, The Guardian, Dawn, The Huffington Post, BBC, NDTV, Al-Jazeera, and The History Channel for its passion and incredible work.

So, what is the Robin Hood Army?

It is a volunteer-based, zero-fund, and apolitical global organization comprising young students, professionals, and senior citizens who, in their free time, take to the streets to fight hunger. RHA collects surplus food from restaurants and various partners and distributes it to the underprivileged people. Project Robin Hood began in Delhi in 2014, and since then, they have served food to more than 122.8 million people across 400+ cities in 13 countries. Over time, RHA has expanded its services to help society in various other ways, including flood and fire relief, pandemic support, blood donation drives, and food and ration distribution.

One of their programs, ‘Mission Admission,’ runs Robin Hood Academies that help hundreds of street children pursue primary education and get admitted to nearby schools when they are ready. This is how the Robins demonstrate their dedication to serving society and exercising their patriotism.

An Impactful Mission

RHA Chandigarh is enthusiastically participating in #MissionSWADES, aiming to serve 2.5 lakhs people with dry ration kits in nearby villages. The initiative is progressing well with the support of a passionate team, enthusiastic Robins, mass influencers, media houses, press, corporates, schools, colleges, public sector organizations, and technology partners.

Various organizations, including Vistara Airlines, Indian School of Business (ISB) Mohali, Infant Jesus Convent School Mohali, Bhawan Vidyalay School Chandigarh, Stepping Stones School Chandigarh, Vivek High School Chandigarh, S D School Chandigarh, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Canara Bank Chandigarh, and Gurukul Global School Panchkula, have generously contributed ration for the cause.

Contribute Your Bit

For those interested in contributing, they can donate a ration kit or more, which includes 10 kgs of rice and 2 kgs of daal. Single items like daal or rice can also be contributed. People can place orders online or buy the items from a shop and then drop them off at the mentioned storage points. Robins can pick up the kits from donors in case drop-off is not possible.

City Representative Anjali Sharma says excitedly, “Join #MissionSWADES and make open-hearted contributions of kits to the mission. No matter how big or small the quantity is, each kilogram counts.”

#MissionSWADES is a small but impactful step towards a hunger-free world.
