Grey Shades, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of senior citizens, celebrated the successful completion of their 100-day fellowship program with an event themed “Happy New Age”.
Celebrating a Fresh Start
The event aimed to celebrate the newness and creativity that the elder participants brought to their retirement years and their active participation in the community during their fellowship program with Grey Shades.
The event, held at SD College, Sector 32, Chandigarh, was attended by over 70 people, including the fellowship participants, their family and friends, and other senior citizens from the city. The celebration started with a play performed by the fellowship participants that highlighted their expectations from years after retirement, ending with the message that it is not the time to retire but to re-fire and live to the fullest.
The keynote speech was delivered by Mr Vivek Atray, who applauded the efforts of Grey Shades and its young team. He mentioned that Grey Shades is making older participants younger in new and creative ways, where they have so much to offer to the world. The panel discussion was facilitated by Amar Bindra, who quoted the Dalai Lama, “Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.” Highlighting to us how we choose to spend our retirement years.
Empowering Lives
The young founder of Grey Shades, Inderpreet, shared his vision to help society by helping and empowering the elder. He mentioned, “Grey Shades Fellowship is an empowerment program where elders get time to nurture themselves and work towards their fulfilment engaging actively with a social cause. Going through the fellowship program, the participants of the 3rd cohort have contributed 400+ hours to community service.”
The highlight of the event was the felicitation ceremony where 15 fellowship participants received felicitation from Vivek Atray and other esteemed guests.
Acing the Art of Graceful Living
Grey Shades Fellowship Program is a unique 100-day well-being and age leadership program designed to help senior citizens live a fulfilling and graceful post-retirement life. The program is for Tricity senior citizens, and the program center is located in Sector-18, Chandigarh.
Inderpreet shared, “Grey Shades believes that every senior is a gracious giver, which means they are of value to society with their time and energy, and Grey Shades provides nurturing to their fellows so they can continue their giving journey gracefully.
Rajinder Kaur, who facilitated the panel discussion where children of participants shared experiences, mentioned, “Grey Shades opened avenues for us to help our elder parents with this amazing opportunity within the city. The elders must take benefit of the program and age gracefully.”

The Grey Shades Program aims to expand its reach and impact in the coming years, with plans to engage and empower more senior citizens in Tricity having already successfully conducted 3 batches of fellowship programs with 45 plus senior citizens.
