It is said that every 1 in 29 Indian women are a victim of breast cancer, making it one of the most common killers amongst women. One of the main factors which are the advanced stages at diagnosis and hence the need for awareness. Keeping this in mind, a special campaign ‘Jeeto’ was recently launched at Radisson Red, Mohali.
The initiative was started by Deep Shergill in collaboration with Nargis Dutt Foundation, Max Healthcare, Indorama Corporation India, AU Small Finance Bank, Nanke Manke and GhaintPunjab.
An Iconic Event
Priya Dutt, Ex-MP & Founder Chairperson of Nargis Dutt Foundation, Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General Of India, Mohanbir Singh Shergill, Ex Municipal Commissioner & Director of Paragon School, Sector 69, and many other dignitaries from diverse backgrounds offered their support to Jeeto and also shared their views on how a small step towards the betterment of society can bring about a global change. The day was made even more memorable because of the presence of the global fitness icon and a veteran marathon runner, Fauja Singh who not only blessed the team of Jeeto with his purest words but also celebrated his 111th birthday in the presence of Jeeto and its supporters.
The event saw participation from the members of the Punjabi entertainment fraternity too. Popular Punjabi artists such as Neeru Bajwa, Ninja, Zora Randhawa and Jashan Singh offered their support for Jeeto to spread awareness about cancer and the benefits of its early detection.
Making Way for Social Change
Priya Dutt, Chairperson cum Trustee, Nargis Dutt Foundation said, “I feel I have come back home. Punjab is like home and the people are so warm and I feel blessed to be here. I am glad to join hands with Jeeto and feel that the team has huge potential to make a social change in spreading awareness of cancer. I have discussed the plans forward with Deep and wish her all the best in her wonderful path forward for Jeeto. I offer my humblest support to this campaign and will be available for them as and when they need me”.
Talking about Jeeto, Founder Deep Shergill said, “Jeeto is very close to my heart as I have seen my sister suffer from cancer. She’s gone through a lot, and we’ve learnt a lot from her journey. I deeply feel for the people who are undergoing this medical condition and wish to educate and bring awareness about the early detection of cancer and how it can help in achieving the best results of cure. I am so blessed to get so much support from everyone who has got to know about Jeeto, especially Priya Dutt, and Satya Pal Jain, who took time out to come over to the curtain raiser event and share their wise words with us. My family and friends who became my support to make this campaign see such a wonderful launch have been a blessing. Let’s stand together and spread awareness about cancer amongst masses and make a change at the grassroots level.”
