C.O.D.E. Hack 2020

C.O.D.E. Hack 2020 was Strawberry Fields High Schools’s first ever Hackathon organised from August 22-24. This year, C.O.D..E. Hack was an International Virtual Hackathon that lasted 3 Days and 2 nights and was conceptualised by Founder and President, Arhaan Aggarwal. C.O.D.E. Hack was an interdisciplinary competition with events covering a wide range of practical topics such as- Maths, Coding, Coding Decoding (Logic), Investing, Design, Creative Writing (based on the CW show The 100), and the famous Star Wars. The main theme of the event was ‘Technology in the Real World’. For the main event, the participants worked in their teams and came up with an idea and designed a prototype for a solution to a problem in any of the given 3 categories (The winning ideas are also mentioned):

-Technology for Healthcare: The winning team out here was from DPS Faridabad and used AI to come up with a device to help the blind people in walking and help prevent accidents.

-Technology for Sustainable Living: Environmental Category: The winning team belonged to the Tricity and was from SFHS. They came up with an innovative dustbin that used technology for sterilising the waste, and to avoid spillage of the waste and helped in sanitation.

-Transforming Education through Technology- The winning idea belonged to Sentia’s team from Hyderabad. They created a site which correlated all the digital resources available for a given topic class wise.

The event began by an opening address given by the Founder and President. The Keynote speaker for the event was Dr. Raja Sooriamurthy, a Teaching Professor of Information Systems at the Heinz College, Carnegie Mellon University. That evening, a career counselling session was held for the students by the Co-Founder of OnCouse Vantage, Nitin Jain and his senior associate Miss. Ria Jethi.

The night ended by an interactive panel discussion on Young Professionals in Tech which comprised of Tushar Gupta from Akamai Technologies, Abhinav Jain from Robert-Bosch, Animesh Jain from Microsoft, and Gireek Bansal formerly from Infosys, now a Deep Vision Consultant at a Stealth Startup in the Bay Area.

The second day was marked by an interactive speech from the COO of Paytm Payments Bank Mr. Abhishek Arun.

On the final day of the Hackathon, the Judge Rahul Sharma, a Senior Digital Advisor at Microsoft Asia-Pacific HQ patiently went through all the presentations and gave valuable advise to our participants related to their products. The finale started with a speech on woman empowerment, feminism, and the role of mentors by Neha Grover, South Asian Regional Lead, Private Equity at IFC, World Bank. This was followed by a presentation by Manish Grover, Head of Channel Alliances Marketing and Solutions. After this, Manish Grover announced the winners for the main event and the Side events. This was followed by a heartfelt thank you from the President to the entire OC of the hackathon, the preliminary judges, the judge, all the speakers, and the participants of the hackathon. With over 175 participants, C.O.D.E. Hack 2020 was Indiia’s largest school level hackathon.
