Pressure Cooker Mutton Curry

Ingredients

500 gms mutton (curry cut)

3 medium-size potatoes

2 medium-size onion

3 garlic cloves & ½-inch ginger

4 tbsp coconut milk

1 tsp turmeric powder

1 tbsp cumin seeds

½ tbsp black peppercorn

1 cinnamon stick

3 green cardamom

2-star anise

5 dry red chillies

2 tbsp mustard oil

Salt & water as required

Step 1

Marinate the mutton with coconut milk and turmeric. Keep it aside for 30 minutes.

Make the spice mix by dry roasting the cumin seeds, black peppercorn, dry red chillies, cardamom, cinnamon stick to grind it into smooth spice powder.

 Step 2

Heat the mustard oil in a pressure cooker and add the diced potatoes, onion, ginger, and garlic. Stir until colour changes and add the star anise. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes in medium-high flame. Now add the spice mix to blend it well and let it simmer for 3 minutes.

Step 3

Now add the marinated mutton pieces, mix it well, wash the bowl of the marinade with little water and let it simmer for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to distribute the heat properly for the pieces. Add little water with salt and close the pressure cooker lid. Wait for 6-7 whistle to finish the dish.
