From Bad Man to Good Teacher: Gulshan Grover Imparts Lessons to Budding Entrepreneurs

Donning the role of a professional mentor with characteristic elàn and ease, the iconic Bollywood villain of Bad Man fame Gulshan Grover imparted precious success tips to budding entrepreneurs and underlined that commercial success is the benchmark of efforts made in the right earnest.

A Commerce Post Graduate from Sri Ram College of Commerce, Gulshan Grover set the stage on fire during the afternoon session of the 8th TIECON Chandigarh 2023 which was recently organised by TIE Chandigarh. The interactive session was co-chaired by MD Keshkala and Dr Ortho Sanjeev Juneja.

Commerce took me to Bollywood, Grover said in his inimitable baritone evoking loud cheers from a jam-packed hall urging youngsters to follow their hearts in everything they do. Sharing facets of his successful journey in India and on the global stage, Gulshan Grover – who has a grooming product range by the name of ‘Bad Man’ after the name of the famous negative character he played in the hit movie Ram Lakhan – said honesty and hard work have been his consistent guides to make a mark in this competitive industry with cut-throat competition.

Lauding TIECON organisers led by TIE Chandigarh President Robin Aggarwal for their zeal and enthusiasm, the Hollywood star said the event has been immensely successful in fostering the Tech ecosystem in the region.

The session was the most sought-after and was attended by a packed audience in rapt attention with Gulshan Grover culling out interesting stories from his Bollywood working experience.

“I would have loved to play a role like played by Al Pachino in The Godfather,” Gulshan said on being asked to name a movie he always wanted to be a part of. Pran Sahib, Ranjit, Jeevan Ji amongst many others have been instrumental in my learning to be an actor,” he signed off leaving the audience gasping for more.

Enlightening Budding Entrepreneurs

Listing out the IPO toolkit to budding entrepreneurs, Founder of MakeMyTrip Rajesh Magow on Saturday underlined that choosing to go for an Initial Public Offer (IPO) is the commencement of an entrepreneurial journey and should be by no means perceived as a fashion statement and a ritual.

The temptation to go for public listing is massive and it is natural, Magow said here during an interactive session as part of TIECON Chandigarh while adding that the objectives have to be crystal clear before this decision is arrived at as this comes with greater responsibility and scrutiny.

Prodded further by the eminent moderator Alok Ramsisaria, Magow said one of the aims is always funding, and it is paramount to know how much and when. These fundamental questions are answered best by ventures which breed professional integrity from the word go, Magow added to a round of generous applause from the packed audience.

Creating Value

Enduring entrepreneurial success married to a social cause remains the ultimate success benchmark and tags like Unicorn are labels which should only inspire and not divert entrepreneurs. The views found echo here at the annual Tech calendar event 8th TIECON 2023 being organised by TIE Chandigarh.

The eminent IT experts and thought leaders formed part of the Session on ‘Disrupting Bharat: Insights from Unicorn Playbook’ held this morning. The Session was moderated by Director External Relations ISB DNV Kumara Guru.

Sharing his insights during the session Founder Shiprocket Vishesh Khurana said to a loud audience applause, “I hate this word Unicorn. Seeing this as a necessary milestone is not correct to me and the thrust should be on creating value and not running after these manufactured tags.”

Successive business models need to be driven by value creation and this is what can be the sole enduring driver of success, Khurana added.
