Easy Fish Masala


For marination

  • 500 gms fresh water shark catfish or use basa fish.
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp black pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste

For gravy

  • 3 medium size onions
  • 1 medium size tomato
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp mustard oil
  • Salt and water as required

Step 1

Marinate the fish with soy sauce, black pepper powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, and turmeric. Mix it well and keep it aside for 15 minutes. In the meantime, grind the onions, tomato with vinegar into a smooth paste. Pour the paste into the marinade and keep it aside.

Step 2

Heat the mustard oil in a cooking pan and add the marinated fish cubes. Stir well and let it simmer for 10 minutes on low flame. Add ½ cup of water with a little salt to taste, mix once and let it boil for another 6-7 minutes in low flame to finish the dish.

Serve your fish masala hot with some rice and enjoy the dish.
