Chicken Dahiwala


1 kg chicken curry cut

8 tbsp plain curd

1 tbsp coriander powder

1 tbsp dry ginger powder

1 tbsp garam masala

1 tbsp cumin masala

1 tbsp Kashmiri red chilli powder

1 tsp turmeric powder

2 medium size onions

2 medium size tomatoes

4 cloves, 1 cinnamon stick

1 tbsp ghee

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tbsp Kasuri methi

Salt and water as required

Step 1

Take a mixer grinder, add 6 tbsp of plain curd, dry ginger powder, coriander powder and blend it. Keep it aside. Marinate the chicken with 2 tbsp plain curd, garam masala, Kashmiri red chilli powder, cumin masala, turmeric and keep it aside for 20 minutes.

Step 2

Heat a pan with ghee, temper the oil with some mustard seeds and add the chopped onions, tomatoes along with cloves and cinnamon stick. Sauté until brown.  Now add the marinated chicken and mix well with the ingredients. Cover the pan and let it simmer for 15 minutes on medium heat.

Step 3

After 15 minutes as the chicken is cooked in its juice, add the curd blend mix, wash the marinade bowl with little water, mix it well and a little salt. Let it cook for another 10 minutes in low heat till the ingredients meld. Add Kasuri methi and let it boil for another 2 minutes in low heat to finish the dish.
