A delegation comprising representatives from the British High Commission and the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) met with Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today. Leading the delegation were Amandeep Grewal, Deputy Head of Mission of the British High Commission, and Rajinder S. Nagarkoti, Political, Press, and Projects Adviser for the UK Government. They graciously invited the Chief Minister to a joint UK-HPCA reception on March 7, 2024, at the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium coinciding with the commencement of the 5th Test Match between the cricket teams of India and England. The reception aims to feature a blend of British and Himachali cuisine while fostering stronger bonds between the United Kingdom and Himachal Pradesh. Noteworthy guests include British High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, as highlighted by the delegation.
Expressing enthusiasm, the Chief Minister showed interest in exploring collaborations with the UK across various sectors such as green hydrogen, electric vehicles, tourism, and water management. He emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the UK team and the state government to leverage the UK’s expertise for mutual growth.
Further discussions with the UK delegation to delve deeper into potential collaborations will be scheduled shortly, ensuring that Himachal Pradesh capitalizes on partnering with the UK. Additionally, Surinder Thakur, Director of HPCA, warmly invited the Chief Minister to witness the test match between India and England.
