One such trailblazing women entrepreneur and jewellery designer who has made a name for herself in the industry with her bold and innovative creations is Maya Verma, the Co-founder, Chief Brand and Product Officer, Joker & Witch and Teejh.
In an exclusive interview with her, we discuss more about her inspirations, the creativity process, and how she navigates the challenges of being a pioneering woman in the world of entrepreneurship.
Walk us through your journey as an Accessory Designer?
I am an Accessory designer from NIFT, New Delhi and a true jewellery junkie at heart. Over the years, I have worked with brands like Swarovski, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Hidesign, Holii and Styletag.com across Design, Retail & Ecommerce before I met my better half, Satish and decided to take the plunge into the world of entrepreneurship!
What encouraged you to venture into this industry?
My obsession with jewellery began as a kid when I would make jewellery out of broken beads, stones and discarded cardboard. Over time, jewellery to me was not just a piece of adornment but rather an important element of self-expression. I firmly believe that every day, every mood deserves a jewellery of its own. So, I enjoy being ahead of time in terms of designs and presenting them to the customers in a relatable manner.
Tell us more about your role at Joker & Witch and Teejh.
With over 12 years of cross functional experience across Category management, Product Design & Development, Retail planning, Brand marketing & Creatives, and Buying & Merchandising, I am utilizing my expertise as the Brand and Product custodian for Joker & Witch and Teejh.
I am a keen observer and a creative thinker, so in my opinion, I believe that I am the heart behind the brand and Satish is the brain!
