Travelling Like a Free Bird

Travelling is a passion for many of us as it not only helps you see new places but also helps to understand the diverse culture of different places. While some of us love exploring our ‘Incredible India’ many of us also venture out abroad. But when passion becomes as dear as a profession, the adventure gets even exciting. Tricity Scoop this time talks to some prominent travel bloggers and vloggers of the Tricity who talk about their experiences and what actually led them into it!

What motivated you to become a social media influencer? How has the journey been so far?

I started initially with food blogging. Being a huge foodie, it took me to places. I began reviewing hotels within India and abroad which brought more opportunities to the fore. I admit that I travel luxuriously but I take a keen interest in the nitty-gritty of the culture of the places I visit. Talking to people and knowing their stories helps me in understanding the places even more. That is how my audience connects with me because I tend to bring out the relatability via my pictures- be it food or places. It took me a while to reach here, but I am known for my work and it speaks for itself.

One thing that you love the most about Tricity?

Growing up, Chandigarh was a wonderland for me. It is a Pandora box that caters to everybody’s dreams. It taught me to dream. My initial collaborations were with homegrown brands and I still voice out to “Support Local”.

What motivated you to become a social media influencer? How has the journey been so far?

I had never imagined being a social media influencer and never wanted to be one for that matter. But I always liked taking videos of the places I travelled to, and educating people about the profundities and difficulties of the locations. I started doing in-depth guides for people while visiting countries/ cities. And suddenly, it all boomed and recently I’ve just hit 1lakh subscribers on YouTube all thanks to this. My Instagram has also picked up due to travelling post-lockdown and analysing the safety measures that were taken by hotels for the same. I am extremely grateful for such a sincere and dedicated audience.

Chandigarh is a magnet that brings me back every time I head out of it; be it another country or city. The best way I can describe is that “Chandigarh is home.” I can spread my wings and fly away to far off places knowing that I will be back home soon.

It is a perfect blend of modernity and conservatism. A plethora of opportunities await its citizens and I don’t think anybody can take Chandigarh out of a true Chandigarhian. We are just too possessive of our gedi route, VIP car numbers and beautiful humans. All this makes Chandigarh special.

What motivated you to become a social media influencer? How has the journey been so far?

Love what you do, do what you love. That’s my favourite motto and this is the only reason that I decided to go ahead and become a social media influencer. I love travelling, exploring new places and their cultures and I am a big-time foodie. So, I must say I am really doing something that I love and enjoy to the core.

The journey so far has been so good, I am still learning and I would really like to go ahead in this field because there is so much more to do, so many more places to travel to and last but not the least, so many types of food specialties that I haven’t tasted yet.

One thing that you love the most about Tricity?

For me, the Tricity has some sort of a magical vibe to it. The roads, the greenery, friendly vibe of the people here, Gedi route, Panjab University and most importantly, the food. I mean what is not to love here? I feel, if you’ve lived here once, then you wouldn’t want to leave this place ever. It’s not just a place, but an emotion for me.

What motivated you to become a social media influencer? How has the journey been so far?

First of all, I won’t say that I am a social media influencer and I never intended to become like that. I always wanted to travel like a free bird, wanted to explore exotic places of my own country, had the urge to go to the hidden gems of India and then showcase its beauty to the world. So, this urge made me travel solo all over India and most importantly, I wanted to show that how safe it is to travel in India and I am surprised that my journey helped a lot of girls to step out and see the places like never before. The journey has been extra special for me, I mean I get overwhelmed whenever I recall my travels, my experiences – both bad and good and I feel I have lived my life to the fullest.

One thing that you love the most about Tricity?

Tricity has its own charm and I love this city the most and it will always be my favourite. The best part is the traffic management, cleanliness, roads and of course, the greenery.

What motivated you to become a social media influencer? How has the journey been so far?

I never thought that I would become one. After shifting to Chandigarh in 2018, I hardly knew anyone in the Tricity. So, I started exploring the city on my own and started sharing my experience on social media. I used to travel to Himachal on almost every weekend and explore new cafes and restaurants on weekdays. Actually, the whole purpose was to collect memories over Instagram to be used as an Archive to see what I have done in all those years. I believe most people have this myth with them that travelling takes a lot of money, which is not true at all. It’s all about your comfort. I am a budget traveler, so I always travel by local buses unlike luxury AC busses and stay in hostels. I don’t spend more than 2500 on each trip which is very cost-effective. A road is always less travelled. All you can do is travel more and experience it as a local rather than a tourist.

One thing that you love the most about Tricity?

I moved to Chandigarh in 2018 for work and started taking more frequent budget trips in the Himalayas. There are many reasons behind my love for Chandigarh, but still one of the biggest reasons for me to move from Delhi to Chandigarh is because Chandigarh is like a gateway to the Himalayas. This city gives you a lot of time to follow your passion alongside your regular job, because your home and office are really close; unlike Delhi that takes a lot of time commuting from home to office and vice versa. This small city has taught me a lot in the past years. I can see this positive change in life that made me more confident and independent as this is the first time that I have stayed for this long from Delhi which is my hometown. Now, I feel completely comfortable here and I am getting used to the City Beautiful, Chandigarh which is pretty much justified.
