Punjab di Kudi Brings Glory

Punjabi girl Harnaaz Sandhu has made us all proud by bringing the much-coveted Miss Universe title home. There is no doubt in the fact that winning this title was not a cakewalk for Harnaaz. Behind her pretty face is hidden a lot of goodness, which has managed her to get the title.

While the media endlessly reported her feat, we at Tricity Scoop got in touch with her brother, Harnoor (Aka “HsMusics”) to know a lot of hard work and dedication that went a long way in getting her the coveted title. Harnoor also shared some of her rare childhood pictures with us, which are sure to be a delight for all our readers!

We also discovered her other professional accomplishments and volunteering experiences.

Creating History

We all know that the 21-year-old is the first Sikh woman to bag the title for India in 21 years, but there is a lot more behind her pretty face and petite personality. She’s indeed a beauty with brains as well as compassion!

Giving Back to the Society

Sandhu’s mother is a gynaecologist and women’s rights activist in India. The mother and daughter duo work together at pop-up health clinics to educate Indian women about reproductive and menstrual health issues, topics often considered taboo in rural India.

Sandhu and her mother also hosted a miniseries on Instagram titled “Hear It From Maa,” where the pair discussed topics such as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), menstrual hygiene and breast cancer.

The Miss Universe winner is also an ambassador for Smile Train India, a non-governmental organisation which provides free cleft lip surgeries for impoverished children.

During the Miss Universe pageant, Sandhu also took the opportunity to discuss climate change. “This is the time to take action and talk less because every action of ours can either kill or save nature,” she declared.

We hope you’ll enjoy having a sneak peek into her yesteryears through these pictures which bring back her memories with the family, which is proud of her today!
