National Maritime Week Celebrations Honor Our Rich Heritage

The Merchant Navy Officers’ Association (MNOA) recently marked the culmination of National Maritime Week Celebrations with the usual gaiety at Hotel Radisson, Zirakpur. The celebration veered around the theme of the National Maritime Week Celebration 2023 – ‘Amrit Kaal in Shipping’ and was attended by around 150 MNOA members and their families.

Recognizing Excellence

Capt T S Bhatia, President, MNOA, Chandigarh said, “Five mariners selected by a jury were given awards of excellence for having achieved distinction in their respective fields. The event gave a chance to the members of MNOA to interact with one another and know more about the latest trends in the shipping industry. The get-together also gave an opportunity to members and their families to mingle and catch up with each other.”

Eminent persons who attended the programme included Captain Arjun Kalra, Chairman, Company of Master Mariners of India (CMMI)-Chandigarh Chapter, Captain Sanjay Prashar, MD, VR Maritime, General Secretary of Himachal Seafarers Association, Jagmeet Makkar of Institute of Marine Engineers, India (Chair IMU-Indian Maritime University) and other dignitaries.

The event, which coincided with the 60th National Maritime Week celebration that culminated with observing National Maritime Day on April 5, was supported by Property Scanners in association with Horizon Belmond Group.

Giving Back to the Society

It is worth noting that Merchant Navy Officers Association (MNOA), Chandigarh in association with Stepping Stones School, Sector 38-A, Chandigarh, had also organized a blood donation camp as a part of observing the National Maritime Week.
