For the Love of Food!

Nothing binds people together like good food, and that is exactly what struck a chord with Prabhjot Singh in 2017 and ever since then, there has been no turning back.
Ever since childhood, Prabhjot was a true foodie at heart and as he grew up, his love for food only grew fonder. So, about six years ago, Prabhjot decided to share his food endeavors with the world and laid the foundation stone of Foodkars – commonly known as foodies ka search engine.
One of the pioneers of food blogging in India, Prabhjot started his journey way before Instagram Bloggers was ‘a thing’!
Over the years, he has garnered a lot of love, appreciation, and trust from his followers that has helped him carve a niche amongst all food lovers to become a sought-after blog for food suggestions, tips, events, and a lot more.
Today, Prabhjot’s joy ride of food is closely being followed by 75,000 Instagram users and a whooping 3.5 lacs people on Facebook.
In an exclusive interview, we speak to Prabhjot to know more about his trailblazing journey so far, his go-to food destinations in Chandigarh Tricity, and a lot more.
What encouraged you to start Foodkars back then, especially when social media applications were not that common in our country?
Foodkars is not based on an idea, rather it is based on my unflinching passion as a foodie. I had started Foodkars in February (2017) to initiate my food project with a clear vision of discovering the street food & other traditional delicacies of India and share them with the world. At that time, I never thought that we will eventually grow into such a large community of food lovers. It was only within a few months of starting Foodkars that my passion for food turned into a go-to portal for all the food explorers out there who were keen on munching on novel delicacies from our country.
What has been your driving force behind Foodkar’s endeavours?
At Foodkars, our aim has always been at creating awareness about the latest food trends, right from the street food and local shops to the high end and posh restaurants in our country.
Our foodie followers can find all necessary information about different hidden food gems of the busy lanes or the chef’s special delicacies at an exquisite property – at our one-stop destination. Our website and social media handles have something in store for everyone alike.
Right from street food to global cuisines; we have it all! If I have to say it in a nutshell, I will just say that if something is related to good food, you will definitely find at Foodkars. This is the kind of passion that we have for food.
After all, food is not something that you wish for, it is something that you live for!
Tell us more about your food trails in Chandigarh Tricity?
From sumptuous food to serene lanes complemented with a lavish lifestyle – Chandigarh Tricity has been one of my favourites places for food trails. I really appreciate how the people here serve different delicacies so whole-heartedly and the quality of food is also very pure and fresh. Probably that is the secret behind the good health of the residents here. Moreover, the well-planned architecture, cleanliness and greenery makes the food trails even more pleasant and enjoyable.
What are some of your go-to food destinations here?
I am very fond of the rich in taste north Indian food options at Pal Dhaba, Chandigarh. Hotel Aroma is also a great option to grab a cup of coffee or spend a nice evening in good company.
For gorging on the delicious street food, I usually take a tour to the Sector-22 market or to Garg Chaat, Sector-23, Chandigarh.
No food trail can be complete with a tasty dessert, so for sweets, I love heading to Gopal’s – it has been my favourite sweets and bakery shop ever since childhood.
Since you have been in this industry for quite some time now, what advice would you like to give to the food bloggers who are just venturing into this profession?
I would highly recommend that you venture into this profession only if you are a true foodie at heart. Do not join it for any fancy or glamour expectations. Do justice to your profession by being dedicated at what you do and do it whole-heartedly. If you are passionate and hardworking enough, success is bound to happen. All the best!
