Chandigarh-based make-up artist Surkhab Anjum is acing the art of creating beauty wherever she goes with her prolific knowledge and acumen of the beauty industry.
Surkhab Anjum had a passion for make-up and beauty ever since childhood and as she grew up, she decided to pursue and transform her passion into her profession. The journey, which was started about six years ago, is today an inspirational tale for people across the region. Anjum’s unflinching zeal to learn and an indomitable will to succeed has helped her pave the way for the zenith of success.
While providing an insider’s view into her humble beginnings, Surkhab shares, “I did my professional make-up artistry course from the French Fashion Institute Esmod Dubai. I have attended an array of master classes with eminent personalities like Huda Kattan, Mario Dedivanovic and Kim Kardashian West in Dubai. While I have mostly been self-taught about this industry, art truly inspired me in every aspect of my life.”
In the Shoes of a Make-up Artist
A graduate in Fine Arts from MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, Surkhab has come a long way in pursuing her passion, and she firmly believes that a huge credit goes to her family and her well-wishers.
When asked about her favourite aspect of being a make-up artist, she shares, “As a make-up artist, you can make your look – glamorous, sexy, or causal, just as you like it! Make-up can enhance your fashion and sense of style in the blink of an eye, and I absolutely love creating artistic looks. The myriad hues of colours mixed with a little bit of my art makes all brides look gorgeous! I love adding a royal touch to their existent beauty! The city of Paris inspires me a lot.”
The Entrepreneurial Plunge
It was earlier this year that Surkhab decided to take the entrepreneurial plunge and start her own beauty brand, Volt Beauty. She started it with the vision to amplify the ethereal beauty that every woman feels confident in her own style and timeless charm.
The key product available under Volt Beauty, the Volt eyelashes have taken make-up lovers by the storm. These eyelashes are made to enhance stunning bright eyeshadows and bring out the true beauty of delightful eyes.
“I feel that every woman deserves to have a sparkle in her eyes, and that’s what motivated me to create Volt Beauty. We do lashes in 5 styles from lightweight to heavier depending on a client’s preferences and eye shapes. We have already received an overwhelming response and I am affirmative that the girls in Chandigarh would love these lightweight yet glamorous eyelashes,” smiles Surkhab, who also works a freelance make-up artist and travels globally for destination wedding appointments including places like Dubai, Singapore, Thailand and more. She has her makeup studio in Panchkula.

Less will continue to be more. Beautiful and bright summery corals, and fuschia colours on the lips are here to stay. You can complement your look with aesthetic floral accessories paired with a fresh dewy skin, a pop of peach blush and super glossy highlighted skin that has a glass- like skin finish.
