Young talent Hansjeet Duggal who contributed visual effects art to a prestigious film project while working with noted American filmmakers and production houses has brought laurels to his city Chandigarh. 33-year-old Hansjeet had shown his talent by serving as the Visual Effects Supervisor in the American biographical sports drama film – ‘Air’.
A Biographical Sports Drama Film
Air is a 2023 American biographical sports drama film directed by Ben Affleck and written by Alex Convery. The film is based on true events about the origin of Air Jordan, a basketball shoe line, of which a Nike employee seeks to strike a business deal with rookie player Michael Jordan. It stars Matt Damon, Affleck, Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, and Viola Davis. The film has been released in the USA in April and it will be available via Amazon Prime in other parts of the world.
While sharing his experiences on this project with local media at Chandigarh Press Club, Duggal said that this project was announced in April 2022, and he was in America at that time. Passionate about VFX since the age of eight, Hansjeet has always been experimenting with the latest innovations in art and technology and when he got a chance to be a part of the ‘air’ project, he brought his twenty years of experience into the project of his lifetime.
A Visual Masterpiece
The movie was set to be a visual masterpiece, with 400-500 VFX shots that varied in complexity. Hansjeet knew that this would be a challenge, but he was excited to put his skills to the test. Some shots were approved in the first go, while others required multiple versions and tweaks to get to the finishing line.
“They were working with a brand-new camera and color science, which meant that they needed to create a new workflow from scratch. I quickly got to work, collaborating with the team to find a solution that would work seamlessly with the new camera technology,” said Hansjeet who headed the team of nearly 80 professionals in this project.
Winning Hearts and Accolades
Earlier in January 2018, Duggal made an emphatic mark at Stereopsia, an international forum dedicated to all artistic, technological, content, and business facets of 3D immersion in Brussels, Belgium (Europe). That international event is organized in close collaboration with the Hollywood-based Advanced Imaging Society and Duggal being ten shortlisted participants out of over 100 contenders across the world.
Duggal made ‘Freiheit’ (which literally means freedom in German), a German event during World War II as his project and won accolades from the organizers.
